My name is Sylvain Marchienne. I am a Senior Software Engineer in Machine Learning, focused on building useful AI features from model design to production systems.
I work at the intersection of machine learning, product engineering, and user experience, with a particular interest in personalization, recommendation, content understanding, and safe generative AI.
I currently work at Apple on Machine Learning and Generative AI for Photos, developing on-device curation, recommendation, filtering, and personalized content generation systems.
My work spans ranking and scaling content in large photo collections, LLM-powered user-query understanding, content summarization, and safety systems for generated experiences.
Previously, I was a Machine Learning Engineer at Dashlane, where I owned real-time NLP and web form classification models for Autofill, serving more than 15 million users. Before that, I worked on video highlight detection and automatic editing at GoPro, and on explainable time-series prediction for urban waste collection at craft ai.
I hold an M.S. in Computer Science with a Machine Learning concentration from Georgia Institute of Technology, and B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science with a Data Science concentration from the University of Technology of Compiègne. I also created Summarizer, an open-source deep learning framework for video summarization research.
